Kickoff-Workshop FSAI in Mannheim
Vom 26. bis 28. März 2026 kamen die FSAI-Partner*innen in Mannheim zu einem gemeinsamen Workshop zusammen, um die inhaltlichen Grundlagen für die Female Street Artist Empowerment Strategy zu erarbeiten. Im Mittelpunkt standen zentrale Fragen zu Geschlechtergerechtigkeit in der Street-Art-Szene: Welche strukturellen Hürden bestehen für Frauen im Feld? Welche Rolle spielen Sichtbarkeit, Auswahlprozesse, Sicherheit, Arbeitsbedingungen, künstlerische Freiheit und Verantwortung von Institutionen? Und welche konkreten Ansätze können zu faireren Bedingungen in der Praxis beitragen?
Der Workshop verband inhaltlichen Austausch, gemeinsame Reflexion und erste konzeptionelle Arbeitsschritte für das Strategiepapier. An dem Workshop nahmen nicht nur Mitglieder des Konsortiums teil, sondern auch Künstlerinnen mit unterschiedlichen Erfahrungsständen und Perspektiven: etablierte professionelle Künstlerinnen wie Hera und Gizem, die national und international Wände gestaltet haben – auch im Rahmen von STADT.WAND.KUNST –, ebenso wie Nachwuchskünstlerinnen wie Lada, die bereits eine Wand in Mannheim realisiert hat, sowie Künstlerinnen, die sich aktuell noch orientieren und nach Möglichkeiten für erste Probe- und Übungswände suchen. Gerade diese Mischung aus Erfahrung, Praxiswissen und unterschiedlichen Zugängen zum Feld war für den Austausch besonders wertvoll. Ergänzt wurde das Programm durch eine Kunstführung im Rahmen von STADT.WAND.KUNST, die Einblicke in den Mannheimer Kontext öffentlicher Kunstproduktion gab und Möglichkeiten eröffnete, dass die Workshop-Teilnehmenden selbst in praktischen Austausch und gemeinsame künstlerische Praxis gehen konnten. Die während dieser Tage entwickelten Perspektiven, Diskussionen und Erfahrungen bilden eine wichtige Grundlage für das Strategy-Paper und fließen in seine weitere Ausarbeitung ein.
From 26 to 28 March 2026, the FSAI partners came together in Mannheim for a joint workshop to develop the conceptual foundations of the Female Street Artist Empowerment Strategy. The discussions focused on key questions of gender equality in the street art scene: What structural barriers do women face in the field? What role do visibility, selection processes, safety, working conditions, artistic freedom, and institutional responsibility play? And which concrete approaches can help create fairer conditions in practice?
The workshop combined thematic exchange, collective reflection, and the first conceptual steps toward the strategy paper. Participants included not only consortium members, but also women artists with different levels of experience and perspectives: established professional artists such as Hera and Gizem, who have created murals nationally and internationally – including within the framework of STADT.WAND.KUNST – as well as emerging artists such as Lada, who has already realised a mural in Mannheim, and artists who are currently still finding their direction and looking for opportunities to work on trial and practice walls. This mix of experience, practical knowledge, and different points of entry into the field made the exchange particularly valuable. The programme was complemented by an art tour as part of STADT.WAND.KUNST, offering insights into Mannheim’s context of public art production and creating opportunities for participants to engage in practical exchange and shared artistic practice themselves. The perspectives, discussions, and experiences developed during these days form an important foundation for the Strategy Paper and continue to inform its ongoing development.
